Riverwatch Program

In September, the grade 7 and 8 science class performed some water quality testing from the foot bridge near the Discovery Centre. We were joined by Neil Zaluski, Assiniboine Hills Conservation District Manager, and Kent Lewarne, program coordinator for the South Central Eco-Institute, who shared about our local watershed and facilitated student collection of water quality data for the South Central Eco-Institute database (http://scecoinstitute.com/) as part of the Riverwatch program. The goal of the program is to have students collecting real data that can be used to monitor trends in water quality over time.
